A tie can say a lot about a man and his style depending on the way it is worn, or if it is worn at all. Many men today struggle with the correct amount of “dress” to throw on each morning; you want enough to be taken seriously yet retain a comfortable, casual look that works in all settings. As my personal style has evolved over the years, I have found that a clean and professional casual look can do more for me than a full-blown suit-and-tie ever could. With this knowledge has come the realization that I can for the most part do away with a staple of the business suit; the tie. I’ve never quite fully embraced ties; the tightness on my neck and hassle that comes with them gives me the undesired feeling of conformity. Now that I have discovered shirt makers like Equilibrio, Thomas Dean and Bugatchi, wearing a tie with one of their beautiful dress shirts is the last thing on my mind. I feel that shirts like these give my look just the amount of professionalism I need while allowing for a comfortable, casual fit. However, should the occasion arise for me to submit myself to a tie, I have found a great selection from JZ Richards and Robert Graham along with my favorite shirts at Players Clothing Company in LoDo. At Players, they understand the perfect balance between casual and professional that every man should strive for and the brands they carry fit perfectly into my blueprint.
